An Open Letter to Atlanta Spirit Group, LLC

To: Atlanta Spirit Group

From: A Thrashers Fan

Sirs -

Ok, we get it, you're losing money on the Thrashers, and I'm personally done pointing fingers and having fingers pointed at me as a 11 year fan of the team.

And I understand the business decision that you are making to unload what has turned into a multi-million dollar loss for your group. I won't go into the reasons to stay or how I believe that NHL hockey should make it in Atlanta. It's done, it's over and we're all expecting the announcement in the next few days that we've lost our team.

My purpose today is to plead with you to do at least one right thing in this transaction for the fans. It's not something that's going to cost you much, if any, money, but it is something that will build some goodwill with the Hockey community in Atlanta.

Before you sign on the bottom line and send the team to Winnipeg, I plead with you to retire Dan Snyder's # 37 jersey and ask that the league and the new owners honor this retirement when the team relocates.

I don't need to go into the reasons why this is the right thing to do, truly it's something that should have been done years ago. But now is the time for you to show respect to Dan, his family, and the fans that suffered when he was tragically lost.

It's a simple request, it's the right thing to do, and if you know anything about hockey people it will cushion the blow that we're about to suffer.

Thank you for your time and consideration
