Islanders Game Notes
Last Game:
The same night the Thrashers knocked the rust off against the Panthers, the Isles upset the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-3. Blake Comeau picked up a hatter and the Isles potted four goals in the second period to stun the Hawks. Dwayne Roloson (who many thought might be a deadline mover) stopped 41 of 44 shots for the win - not a bad night.
Recent Record:
According to Gary Harding of View from Section 317, the Isles looked pretty good in their post-Olympic return, but the Hawks did have six players return early Monday morning and Rolie the Goalie pretty much stood on his head. That being said, these are the Isles that have hung 16 goals over three games on the Thrashers - not a team to be taken lightly, should the playoff aspirations stay alive.
Isles Injury Report:
Andrew MacDonald (no, the other one) - Broken foot, out 4-6 wks.
Radek Martinek - Torn right ACL, season.
Trent Hunter - Upper body, 1-2 wks.
Wait for it....
Rick DiPietro - Left knee, on IR.
Who to Watch Out For:
Matt Moulson, without question. The man loves to play the Thrashers - he's a +6 with 7 points (5G, 2A) against Atlanta this year, while usual supects Kyle Okposo and John Tavares have totaled 5 points (1G, 4A) and a +2 rating. According to Lighthouse Hockey, Dylan Reese makes his NHL debut tonight, subbing for the injured MacDonald, who was subbing for the injured Martinek.
