No matter how long it's been, you can't count the Carolina Hurricanes for anything other than a tough hockey team. Winners of their last two games, six points out of a playoff spot, possessor of Cam Ward as guardian of the net - the Hurricanes are dangerous. This year, the issue for the Canes seems to be producing offense. Carolina's averaging 2.76 goals per game, good for 13th in the league, but also allowing an average of 2.97 goals against, putting them at 24th. They've shown flashes of strength, dropping five and seven goal nights on some of the weaker teams, but can't seem to string together more than two wins in a row. The Canes are a disciplined team, but are carrying a PK% of 79.2 - the Thrashers need to convert SOMEthing tonight.

News Linkage:

- Nate Thompson & Damian Cristodero took umbrage with Eric Boulton's actions last night.

- The Fourth Period says the Thrashers are looking for a top-six forward, and they were interested in... wait for it... Marco Sturm to fill that need. Naturally.

Let's Go Thrashers.
