Three games in four days. Thanks, NHL scheduling department.
Last night the Capitals dropped an OT decision to the Sabres in Buffalo - only their second loss in ten games. Tonight they host the Thrashers at the Verizon Center in Washington, so the jet-lag goes both ways. Michal Neuvirth gets the start tonight versus Chris Mason in the Thrashers' net. Neuvy is in a four way tie for most wins, but the Thrashers haven't had much trouble with him; he's 1-1 vs. Atlanta, with a .889 save pct and a 3.49 GAA. If the Thrashers defense looks more like the first game against Washington (31 shots against) than the second game (44 shots against, a Caps' season high), the Birds could have this one in the bag. But make no mistake, this is still the high-powered Caps offense - they've averaged almost 5 goals per game over their last seven. Japers' Rink is the SBN Capitals blog - good hockey people, even if they are Caps' fans.
Gameday Linkage:
- Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom gettin some press.
- TimmyF made the highlight reel - can you spot him?
