Lazy bloggers are supposed to just link to other people and throw in their own 2 cents worth. I rarely link which means I'm either not lazy at all or that I'm so ridiculously lazy that I can't be bothered to link to other people. hmmm.
Here are three things I read this weekend that I liked.
Craig Custance has some comments about the Atlanta market and rumors of Thrashers moving. I agree with pretty everything he says.
Al Coates interviews a long time NHL coach/scout Ron Smith who talks about historical changes in NHL hockey in terms of how the game is played. This is a guy who was right-hand man to Roger Nielson (perhaps the most innovative coach in NHL history). What is the difference between low scoring NHL hockey of today and the high flying 1980s NHL? " "
One member of the Edmonton blogger community tracked every single scoring chance for and against in the Oilers 82 games season. Now they are starting to do some cool data analyis to look for patterns over at Irreverant Oiler Fans. The early results confirm that possessing the puck and playing in the other team's end are the bedrock of winning NHL hockey. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some ground breaking conculsions come out of this research effort.
