Shootouts might be down this season, and that's a good thing for the Thrashers. They've won four of them this year, wheras the New York Rangers have won something like 11 (if my memory serves me well). If the Thrashers and Rangers were to tie for 8th place, the fact that fewer of the Thrashers' wins have come in shootouts gives them the new tiebreaker.
Personally, I hate shootouts, especially when it's been a really good and hard fought game between two teams. Just the fact that the game's decided by something that's becoming a trick-shot competition drives me nuts. If the Thrashers go to a shootout, especially now since we no longer have Johan Hedberg, I close my eyes and think of England.*
Last night we managed to win one in typical Thrasher style - some guy wearing 13 scored (Rob Schremp instead of Slava Kozlov), and Blake Wheeler lost the puck, still managed to keep it moving forward, and scored on a confused Brian Boucher. For those of you who missed the whole shootout-shebang, here you go.
*Bonus points for those who caught that.
