In another move to bolster the Thrashers' depth, Rick Dudley went out an signed Nigel Dawes to a two-way contract worth $600,000 in the NHL and $105,000 in the AHL. Dawes is a 25-year old winger who has played with the New York Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes, and Calgary Flames. He is, at first glance, not your typical Dudley signing: Dawes is just 5'8", 190lbs. He has performed moderately well over his NHL career, scoring 39 goals and 44 assists in 199 NHL games.
Dawes strikes me as a 3rd-line LW, where I currently have Andrew Ladd penciled in. If we take Dudley's word that Ramsay will move Byfuglien to defense, our offense is shaping up something like this:
Little - Antropov - Bergfors
Kane - Peverley - Ladd
Dawes - Cormier/Burmistrov - Modin
Some mix including Boulton, Slater, Eager, Thorburn, etc
Of course, since Dawes is on a two-way contract, he could easily be stored in the AHL as a backup plan in case of an injury to Fredrik Modin. Vote in the poll and let us know what you think in the comments.
