Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

CORRECTION: My Czech isn't so great, and I mistakenly said it was $2.3 per year, when it is $2.3 total for 2 years (or $1.15 per year). Very good price for the Thrashers in my opinion.

Sorry I’ve been so scarce lately. A lot of drama in my life at the moment, plus work and a car issues. Thankfully we are entering the NHL slow season.

That's why we need you, buddy!

I need my hockey fix! And 95-degree roller hockey isn’t doing it for me. :) Just kidding, I hope your drama takes care of itself. Only 2 months to the preseason!

Glad to see you are "ok."

Seriously, I hope your drama clears and all is well. I was starting to think the worst.

I took a look because I can read/write Russian fairly well and they are related languages. However, knowledge of one does not mean you can understand the other. Imagine trying to make sense out of German when you’ve never studied it and speak English and you’ve got some idea. Anyway, the article seems to indicate that $2.3 million is the total value of the contract and not a per year amount.

You are correct, I updated the post.

Wow. Great price for us. He’ll still be restricted at the end of it, correct?

Wow 1.15 per I thought 2.3 per would be close to a decent number.

I, had the same initial reaction, but subsequently realized that the Thrashers shouldn’t/couldn’t pay Pavs more than Mason………..

by JLH on Jul 23, 2010 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Last time Mason made more than the guy that assumed himself to be the starter...

… the starter wound up in the AHL. I know it was different b/c it was Legace, but maybe the team didn’t want to push the jinx that much.

Also, Pavelec will be kept away from all carpets on the ice.

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

Excellent

Put things in perspective with respect to McArthur arbitration ! Disregarding long-term potential, there is no doubt than Pavelec will bring us more wins (using one of these win/point over replacement metric) than McArthur for half the salary !
