In a move that can only be described as "more shocking than the Cloverfield monster," GM Don Waddell has stated that there will be no coaching change this year.

Duh.

No coaching change is going to work a miracle and get them back into the playoffs. Honestly I’m surprised he asked the question now, perhaps at the end of the season, but not right now.

Yawn! Nothing new here from DW

Same old stuff from DW as almost every year he’s been GM.

One reason to not change the coach is that it is now to the Thrashers’ benefit to lose as many games as possible and they have the greatest chance of doing that with Anderson behind the bench. I’ve felt for a long time that Curt Fraser was allowed to stay on as coach for as long as he did simply to run up the losses and keep getting high draft picks so this is no shock to me. Seriously – has any GM in the NHL been asked this question as much as DW in the past 10 years? That says something, but are the owners listening?

More of the same old same old about upcoming free agents. As usual DW feels no urgency to get anybody signed. He does have a point, but again, this is par for the course. He often prefers to let contracts expire prior to re-signing anyone. I think that’s nuts, but that’s how he is. It’s not impossible that he could sign some of these guys before July, but I’m not counting on it.

Wait, you don’t like the ownership or DW? I hadn’t figured that out yet.

In Anderson’s defense, when he showed up, this team really sucked. Now after a full season under his belt, he’s raised their game to a level where they’re now playing mediocre.

This plays right in to Atlanta Spirits plan of killing NHL: hockey in Atlanta.

In other news...

…the idea of a GM change in Atlanta has gained steam!
