Thrashers Tweetup of the 1st Night of the Playoffs.

I'm cross-posting this here from the message boards, since I'm sure both sites have different readership.  I figure that doing a Tweetup for Atlanta would give our team and our fine network of bloggers/tweeters a bit of attention.  People don't realize how involved our fans are, and this'll be a good chance to get some love for our team.  Some teams' are actually sponsoring their local events.  I don't know if that'd fly with us, but it's worth a shot.  When I get info on RSVPing and whatnot I'll add that on.  If you're interested, tweet me a line: @wazzupwitchu or just reply to this post.

If this goes well enough, we could do this as part of the Draft Party we do every year.

In case you guys haven't heard, there's this thing called the NHLTweetup, which gets together fans of teams (in and out of a NHL market) together to live-tweet events. Their first event is to tweet the 1st night of the playoffs. Yes, I know we're not *in* the playoffs, but everyone still enjoys watching them and a lot of you guys have other teams that you dig who will be in them.

I was thinking, why don't we do an Atlanta Tweetup? It'd be a good chance to get together, meet each other, watch some hockey, and have some food and or adult beverages. We do need a location, and since Taco Mac's one of the Thrashers' sponsors, I was going to go with a TM somewhere - maybe Philips since it seems to be in the middle of everyone. Some of the other cities have give aways and corporate sponsorship to pay for everything. I don't know if we're that cool, but it still sounds like fun.

Ben mentioned that if I could get it organized he'd promote it. It's fun, it's almost pointless, but maybe if we pull it off well we can do one for the Draft. Win for fan enthuasism!
